Egyptian architect Yassin Nassar comes from a family with a rich engineering legacy influenced by German traditions. His late grandfather, Dr. Gamaleldin Nassar, was celebrated for his landmark projects and academic contributions in both Germany and Egypt, while his uncle, Hussein Nassar, is a leading architect in Egypt.
At the German School in Cairo, Yassin’s natural talent was recognized from an early age, and his family nurtured his development, leading him to follow his uncle to Greece for his architectural studies. There, under his uncle’s mentorship, he gained invaluable experience and expertise typically acquired later in a career.
Yassin’s time in Greece went beyond professional development, as he also cultivated a deep appreciation for the ancient spiritual traditions of Greece and Egypt. His work reflects these influences, blending spiritual and philosophical ideas with the modern, technical elegance of his German-influenced upbringing.
Yassin’s designs explore the interplay between essence and form, the hidden and apparent, the inner and outer, the metaphysical and physical, and the spiritual and material.
